Ultrafiltration

The process of ultrafiltration (UF) is based on a physical sieving of particles of solutes or colloids through membranes or capillary fibers of appropriate pore size. The result of this separation depends primarily on the size of the separated particles. The ultrafiltration method allows the separation of particles with molecular weight from 1 000 to 10 000 and colloidal particles, while the ultrafiltrate, passing through membranes or fibers, contains solutes with low molecular weights. The process of ultrafiltration is based on the use of molecular sieve.

The ultrafiltration station removes all particles with a diameter below 0.05 µm, which entails the reduction of the SDI (Stiff Davids Index) below 1, which in turn ensures excellent performance and long lifespan of the osmotic membranes.

Membranes with capillary fibers (so-called hollowfibers) are the basic elements of this device. The membranes are built-in together with a valve system and automation that ensures periodic water and air backwash cycles.
